Here are a few of the immediate upcoming events:
Circus
We start our season off with a Circus!
Have you ever wanted to join the circus? The Oklahoma renaissance festival will be holding its annual circus. This is a chance for people interested in becoming a performer to experience a lighter version of the activities that we will encourage people to be part of during our Academy.
The circus will be a day of activities like music dance singing and acting games of improvisation. We will be playing with things like movement accent physicality all in an effort to see and to experiment with your own performance styles. The circus is an environment intended for everyone from the novice who has little or no experience to the avant-garde actor ready to stretch out and try something new.
This event will be Saturday February 17th from 9:00 to 4:00 at the castle of Muskogee in the Great Hall itself.
We have three different tracks to participation. Track one is our Townkeeper Roles. As a townkeeper you have a functional position augmented with a character. Track two is our Apprentice Roles. As a performer with little or no experience we take special focus during your opening year to more fully Develop the Character and expose you to as many aspects of performance as possible. Track three is our Audition roles. For those performers with experience in traditional theater and other festivals we welcome an audition!
Auditions
At an audition, you will typically be asked to perform a monologue or a scene from a script. You may also be asked to read a scene with other actors or take part in improvisation exercises. Be prepared to take direction from the casting director and producers and be open to feedback.
At OKRF our auditions for the for the Novice Cast Member are simple. Be prepared to present two Monologues’ One Comedic or Humorous and One Dramatic or Serious. These should both be presented in the accent of role you would like to be considered.
All auditions will be for characters below. We suggest a minimal degree of understanding of the character for context and presentation.
The review of your audition with be of staging and blocking, projection and diction, physicality and presence. For roles in contention call backs or additional activity could be required.
All auditions are to consider you for the role and for placement in our structure. You could be asked to do an apprentice year dependent on your strength as an actor.
For returning members of Cast the process requires a complete Showcase. A showcase is a fully documented character, the ability to present 3 complete interactions based on Educate, Inform & Entertain.
Any deviations from the process need to be discussed well in advance to the Audition Date.
