Novices and Mentors
What do I do if I am a new cast member?
AKA Novice
All novice (1st year) performers will be placed in one of three categories:
Novice Performers: New cast members that did not auditions and will be assisted through character development for street cast interactions. Any new cast members that have not auditioned, or accepted a Townkeeper position, will be placed in our fun-filled Novice Program! All newbies will have every opportunity to learn Festival Survival, Renaissance History, Team Bonding, and so much more. This is the where we will teach everything you need to know -- acting, singing, dancing, sewing, camaraderie, and culture! All of our novices will be mentored in character development and interactive performance during academies. This is the welcome wagon and onboard training to be a part of our wonderful festival world! We look forward to growing with you.
Townkeepers: New cast members that interviewed and have accept a paid position. Townkeepers will experience the best of both worlds. You will have the opportunity learn Festival Survival, Renaissance History, Team Bonding, and so much more. This is the where we will teach everything you need to know -- acting, singing, dancing, sewing, camaraderie, and culture (and your job of course)! All of our novice Townkeepers will be mentored in character development, interactive performance, as well as your training for your position during academies. (Find more Townkeeping info here!)
All Novice and Townkeeper performers will be required to complete a character packet and attend all days of academy to graduate from the OKRF Academy. Any person that does not graduate will still be allowed to perform/work, but they will be required to go through the Novice/Townkeeper program the next year.
